Man arrested on 19-year-old Idaho warrant

Police in the north-central Idaho city of Lewiston have finally served a nearly two-decades old warrant after officers in the neighboring town of Clarkston, Wash. encountered a man and realized he was wanted on an old attempted rape charge.

The Lewiston Tribune reports Billy Jo Finch, now 43, was arrested after he came into contact with Clarkston police last week.

Lewiston Police Capt. Thomas Greene, who was with the department when the warrant was issued in 1993, said there's no statute of limitations because the charge was already filed. In the court file, prosecutors allege Finch attempted to rape a woman at her home.

Greene says Finch was never arrested because he left the area. He says the woman, who is now 37, said she's still willing to testify.

Fungal Meningitis outbreak hits Eastern Idaho

Fungal Meningitis outbreak hits Eastern Idaho

The fungal meningitis outbreak has hit Idaho. The state Department of Health and Welfare says an Eastern Idaho man received an epidural steroid injection in September and has been diagnosed with the disease. Due to HIPPA laws, we don't have any updates on the Idaho man's condition.

The shipments of recalled injections were delivered to Walter Knox Memorial Hospital in Emmett and Pain Specialists of Idaho in Idaho Falls. At this point, only four people received injections at Walter Knox and 35 were given injections at Pain Specialists.

Including this latest case in Idaho, 138 people in 11 states have become sick with the non-contagious illness. 14 people have died from it. The CDC estimates 13,000 people across the country received the injections.

Man pleads guilty to crash that killed girlfriend

A 21-year-old Genesee man has pleaded guilty to misdemeanor vehicular manslaughter for a car crash near Juliaetta that killed his girlfriend.

The Lewiston Tribune reports Derik C. Neely was sentenced Friday to 365 days in jail but the court will suspend 325 days if he meets the terms of his two-year probationary sentence.

Magistrate Jay P. Gaskill also ordered Neely to pay nearly $17,000 in restitution and suspended his driving privileges for three years.

Court records say Neely was traveling 76 mph in a 55 mph zone on Sept. 25, 2011 when his car went off an embankment, killing 20-year-old Devin A. Matchey of Lewiston.

Neely told investigators that he and Matchey were arguing and she pulled his leg from the gas pedal, causing it to hit the steering wheel.

Capone gets $1 Million bond on assault charge

Bond has been set at $1 Million for the man accused of choking his estranged wife who has been missing for two years.

Charles Capone is facing a charge of second degree assault. He's accused of choking his then-wife Rachael Anderson in late 2009.

She disappeared in April of 2010 and has never been found. Capone is considered a person of interest in her disappearance.

Capone returns to Clarkston on assault charge

The estranged husband of a missing Clarkston woman has been returned to Asotin County to face a domestic violence assault charge.

Asotin County Judge Ray Lutes last week signed a warrant for Charles Capone on a 2nd degree assault charge, Capone is accused of attempting to strangle 40-year-old Rachael Anderson on December 27, 2009. She was last seen on April 16, 2010.

Capone was just released from federal custody after serving a 33-month sentence on a charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm. Most recently he had been serving his time in a halfway house in King County.

A detainer was placed on him by Asotin County and he was transported to the Asotin County Jail Wednesday.

Capone is considered a person of interest in Anderson's disappearance in 2010. She had filed for divorce from Capone in January 2010 after just three months of marriage.

Prosecutors say they have a solid case against Capone and they are not giving up on finding Anderson.

Capone is being held on a $250,000 bond and a bond hearing is expected to take place Thursday.
