Burglar steals tip jar from Pizzeria | Crime
A 27-year-old Lewiston man was arrested and booked into the Nez Perce County Jail in connection with a burglary at the Southway Pizzeria overnight.
The burglary was reported to Lewiston Police at 8:00 this morning after the business opened, according to Lewiston Police Captain Roger Lanier. He says Brad G. Steele, who was a cleaning service employee with a key, allegedly entered the business, took a tip jar that contained $200, and damaged a safe in the office area.
"Store surveillance cameras caught the activity and other store employees were able to identify the suspect. Subsequent follow up by the investigating officer resulted in a confession by the suspect who said he was attempting to get money to purchase drugs," according to Lanier.
