Lewiston man arrested for alleged video voyeurism

Police in Lewiston have arrested a man for alleged video voyeurism at area stores. An investigation into the case started on July 17 when women started reporting voyeurism incidents from various stores including Shopko, Kmart, Grocery Outlet and Walmart.

Surveillance footage was released to the public which helped identify the suspect as Randy W. Merrill, 42. Police arrested Merrill on Wednesday after identifying his vehicle at a traffic stop along Bryden Canyon Road.

Police say Merrill would wait for the right moment and act like he was reaching for something on the lower shelf next to the victim. He would then use his cell phone to snap a photo up the victim’s skirt. Some victims noticed this when they felt their clothing move.

Police think there may be other victims in the community. If you are one of them, you’re asked to call the Investigation unit of Lewiston Police at (208) 746-0171.
