Nez Perce deputy attacked by dog during traffic stop | Crime
A Nez Perce County deputy was attacked by a dog in the 1000 block of Airway Avenue on Saturday afternoon.
Officials have not identified the deputy that was attacked, but said in a news release they were bit during a traffic stop. The deputy shot the dog with his handgun in response, injuring the dog, but the animal is expected to make a full recovery.
The deputy was transported to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center for treatment of the dog bit. The condition of his injuries are not known at this time.
The incident is still under investigation, but because it happened in city limits, it’s being handled by Lewiston Police Department.
