Toddler in stable condition after falling from window | Families
An Orofino toddler is in stable condition at Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children's Hospital in Spokane after he fell out of his third story bedroom window and landed on concrete steps at the family home Friday morning.
According to Kourtney Eckman, she had gone to the store for breakfast items and when she returned, 2-1/2-year-old Landon and his brothers were excited to see her. Landon pulled up the glass window and she yelled three times for him to close the window.
"Not a second later he yelled mommy one more time and pushed through the screen and fell out," Eckman says. The boy hit the third step from the bottom and rolled onto the ground below. His dad, Lance, was also standing outside as he prepared to leave for work and ran to his unconscious son.
"Landon let in a huge gasp of air and started breathing again," Eckman says. Kourtney and Lance quickly drove their son to Clearwater Valley Hospital. Following initial treatment, he was airlifted to Spokane.
Landon, who fell on the right side of his head and shoulder, is being treated for a fractured skull and broken collar bone. He is stable condition and breathing on his own.
"So strong and so incredibly determined," Eckman calls her youngest son, and she gives thanks to all who have offered support. "Thank you for the continued love, support and prayers!! They are working!!"
