Lewiston couple ordered to file three years of tax returns | News
A Lewiston couple has been ordered by a judge to file Idaho tax returns for three years in which their reported income totaled more than $400,000 and they failed to file.
“It’s a shame that taxpayer money has to be spent on taking some people to court to file their tax returns, when the majority of citizens voluntarily do what the law requires of them,” said Rich Jackson, chairman of the Idaho State Tax Commission. “However,” he added, “it’s only right that everyone gets treated the same under the law.”
Second District Court Judge Jeff Brudie has ordered Brad and Terri Johnson to file tax returns for 2009, 2010 and 2011. The Johnson's have until October 11th to comply with the judge's order. Their incomes topped over $130,000 each year for the three years that they failed to file their tax returns.
