Lewis-Clark Valley football not affiliated with LCSC | News
Reports about efforts to organize a new football team in the Lewis-Clark Valley have left some wondering if Lewis-Clark State College is somehow associated with the new team. According to press release, LCSC officials are making it clear that the team, called the Lewis-Clark Valley Loggers, has absolutely no affiliation with LCSC.
“Our priority is to strengthen the existing programs we have,” LCSC Athletic Director Gary Picone says. “Any expansion or growth in our programs would not include football.”
The team is made up of players who are students at LCSC and Walla Walla Community College. They will be part of the Northwest Junior College Football League, a non-profit junior college-level football league that serves the community college student-athletes in the State of Washington. The NWJCFL, which is going into its 4th season, was established to provide local community college student-athletes with the opportunity to play football while pursuing their AA degree.
The team's first meeting will take place Thursday at 6:30 p.m. on the LCSC campus (Sacagawea Hall - Room 115). The meeting is open to prospective players.
