No injuries in morning school bus collision | News
There were no injuries and only minimal damage Friday morning when a Lewiston Independent School District No. 1 bus was involved in a collision with a snow plow in the Waha Glen Road area.
There were five elementary school-aged children on the bus when the plow slid into the stopped bus at about 7:45 a.m. Parents were notified immediately following the incident.
"The Transportation Department dispatched a second bus to the site and the children were all transported safely to school," the district says. Assistant Superintendent Lance Hansen and Transportation Supervisor Warren Lanphier, and the Nez Perce County Sheriff's Office responded to the site of the collision.
The bus had pulled over to the side of the road, and as the snow plow was negotiating a corner it went into a slide. "The driver of the plow put the blade down to stop the slide and collided with the front of the stationary bus," the district says.
"There was only minimal impact to the bus," Hansen says, adding that the collision only moved the bus about 18 inches.
