Brush fire getting worse near Asotin | News

Fire crews said a brush fire just south of Asotin will continue to burn over Thursday night.

The fire started Thursday afternoon near the Red Bird Beach area. Fire officials said the fire is burning mostly brush however, due to high winds, the fire has spread 150 acres.

The Blue Mountain fire district requested a fire helicopter to help but that request was denied. In fact fire officials said the nearest helicopter is in Ellensberg, WA.

Fire crews expect the fire to grow while they continue to try to contain it and wait for mutual aid from the Department of Natural Resources.
