Nez Perce deputy arrested for second DUI in 2 years
News

According to an Idaho State Police captain, a Nez Perce County Sheriff's deputy was nabbed for his second DUI charge in two years.

Idaho State Police Captain Lonnie Richardson confirms that one of his troopers pulled over Deputy Jay Colvin Monday night in Lewiston. Richardson said Colvin failed a sobriety test and was booked into the Nez Perce County Jail. He has since been released.

Police said Colvin was also arrested in 2011 by Lewiston police after he failed to use his headlights. Colvin refused a sobriety test and a breathalyzer. He eventually pleaded guilty to misdemeanor DUI. Colvin served 24 hours of community service in lieu of two days of jail, was demoted, lost his position on the department's boat patrol and was suspended for 10 days without pay. Former Sheriff Dale Buttrey eventually reinstated Colvin to his marine duties.

Sheriff Joe Rodriguez said he will issue a statement about Colvin's charges on Tuesday.
